Science: Blue moon to light up sky ahead of Easter
A "worm moon" rose on March 1, and a rare parade of planets, including Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Mercury and Venus along with the bright star Antares, lit the sky from March 7 through March 11. Full moons aren't exactly rare. They occur, on average, every 29.53 days (12.37 times per year), Space.com reported. But to catch a glimpse of one twice in one month is a special treat. It only happens every three years or so. I hope I get to see it.
Police: Mural honoring officers in Dallas police massacre removed due to code violations
A mural honoring the five Dallas police officers who were killed during a 2016 ambush attack was taken down Monday over city code violations, but a family member hopes the artwork can still be saved. The large mural was painted on a fence with metal panels outside the Last Call Lounge in the city's Bishop Arts District located south of downtown, and paid tribute to the officers who were killed during an attack on law enforcement at a Black Lives Matter rally in Dallas on July 7, 2016. This is awful.
Arizona: Uber disabled safety component in self-driving car before fatal crash, company alleges
Uber was accused Tuesday of disabling the software in the self-driving Volvo vehicle that fatally struck a woman last week in Arizona. Aptiv PLC, the company that makes the collision-avoidance technology, told Bloombergthat Uber disabled the software in the self-driving SUV that killed Elaine Herzberg, 49, as she was crossing a street in Tempe on March 18. I just think that the cars need to be improved.
Drugs: Suspected Mexican cartel leader smuggled 44 pounds of fentanyl into NYC, officials say
A suspected Mexican cartel drug kingpin was charged Tuesday in the seizure of 44 pounds of fentanyl from a sting operation late last year, officials said. Francisco Quiroz-Zamora, 41, was arrested in November after he traveled to New York City to collect a payment from an undercover agent posing as a drug dealer, authorities said. Officials charged him in connection with the opioid seizure at a Bronx hotel and a posh Manhattan apartment. Authorities used undercover agents to track Quiroz-Zamora’s shipments from Mexico to Arizona and Californian and New York, according to the New York Post. That is a lot, I'm glad he was caught.
Russia: Everyone is kicking out Russians
Everyone is kicking out Russians from their country. The US has kicked out 60 Russians. China though is sticking to their side. China is because they are both communist even though they claim they are not. At this point people are calling the Russians spies. Russia said the US will regret their decision. This is a strange thing.
Al Qaeda: Ex-Al Qaeda captive Matt Schrier says he knows FBI 'wronged' him By Elizabeth Zwirz | Fox News
American photojournalist Matt Schrier, who escaped a torturous abduction by Al Qaeda in Syria, said Tuesday the FBI was monitoring his finances while he was in captivity as a way to track the terrorist organization. Schrier, who was kidnapped in 2012 by the Al Qaeda franchise known as al Nusra, said on Fox News' “The Story” with Martha MacCallum that the terror network took his financial information and used his own money to buy computers. He said he knew “beyond a reasonable doubt” that the FBI was monitoring his finances. I don't really know what to think about this.
Video Games: Wildly popular 'Fortnite' video game breaks YouTube streaming record
The “Fortnite” video game, which is fast becoming a cultural phenomenon, has set a new YouTube record for a live gaming stream. Ryan Wyatt, YouTube’s global head of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Gaming, confirmed the game's record-breaking status in a tweet on Monday. “How big is @FortniteGame on YouTube? Fortnite holds the record for the most videos related to a video game uploaded in a single month EVER. Yesterday, the Battle Royale tournament had over 42M live views, and set a record for biggest single live gaming stream @ 1.1M concurrent,” he tweeted. I was watching the stream with Drake and Ninja.
Church: Tennessee church shooting suspect pleads not guilty
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A black man accused of fatally shooting a white woman and wounding six other people at a Tennessee church in September has pleaded not guilty through his attorney to charges in a 43-count indictment, including first-degree murder, attempted murder and felony civil rights intimidation. On Wednesday, attorney Jennifer Thompson entered the plea on behalf of 26-year-old Emanuel Kidega Samson during the arraignment on charges in the Burnette Chapel Church of Christ shooting in Nashville. Samson was not in court Wednesday and has not yet appeared in court. I have dug deeper into this subject and he had no background of mental illness and was a godly man. So saying that he heard voices is highly unlikely. He should be found guilty. There was also a note found in his car saying that that shooting was revenge for the Charleston shooting.
Terrorism: Al Qaeda leader killed by drone strike in Libya identified by Pentagon
A U.S. drone strike killed a “high ranking” official in the Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb terror cell in Libya on Saturday, the Pentagon disclosed Wednesday. It marked the first American drone strike against Al Qaeda in Libya. Musa Abu Dawud was one of two AQIM terrorists killed in the airstrike in southwest Libya near the city of Ubari in the Sahara desert. My opinion is that this is one step closer to ending Al Queda. They are just people that kill for the 'cause'. The need to be taken out.
White House: Trump shares photos of border wall construction on Twitter
President Trump on Wednesday shared four photos of construction work along the U.S.-Mexico border, a day after reports surfaced that he'd suggested using military funds to pay for his long-promised border wall. Trump tweeted that he had received a "Great briefing this afternoon on the start of our Southern Border WALL!" It was not immediately clear who else participated in the briefing. He's keeping his promises, he's do good.
