Homicide: Binghamton University cancels classes after second student murder in 5 weeks
On March 11, Binghamton nursing student Haley Anderson, 22, of Westbury, Long Island, was found murdered at an off-campus residence. “Due to yesterday’s tragic event on campus, all classes are canceled today, Monday, April 16,” the school's 8 a.m. announcement on its website read. The university said Souza's family had requested privacy. The suspect fled after the 10:30 p.m. stabbing in Windham Hall, a student residence, according to the university. The person was described as a “light-skinned male wearing dark pants and a dark, Puma hooded sweatshirt.” Basically there is a serial killer.
Vegas: Gunfire at Vegas company picnic kills one, suspect at large
LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas police are searching for a man accused of opening fire on a Strip resort's company picnic, killing a woman and critically injuring a man in what investigators are calling workplace violence. Police say 42-year-old Anthony Wrobel walked up to a table at The Venetian picnic and fired, striking an executive and an employee at Sunset Park on Sunday evening. Lt. Ray Spencer says Wrobel is also a Venetian employee. His vehicle has since been located at McCarran International Airport. The motive is unclear.
Alabama: Mother shot, critically wounded when ex-husband broke into her home, authorities say
A Monday-morning shooting in western Jefferson County has a 45-year-old mother fighting for her life in the hospital. Jefferson County sheriff's deputies and rescue workers were dispatched just before 8 a.m. to a home in the 300 block of Trenton Street on a reported shooting. When they arrived, the found the victim suffering with critical injuries, said Chief Deputy Randy Christian. The investigation so far shows that the victim's ex-husband broke into the home where the victim lived with her children. The children were able to flee to a neighbor's home and weren't injured.
Alabama: Student detained after posting reported threat to Jefferson County middle school
Jefferson County middle school student has been detained for questioning in connection with a reported threat that made the rounds on social media for much of the weekend. The post named Clay Chalkville Middle School, and showed a young black male holding a long gun. It included the words "Y'all (expletive) go be (expletive) up."
Nevada: Nevada boy sells lemonade to raise money for fallen officers, gets surprise from police department
A 5-year-old boy was treated to a very exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour at a Nevada police station Thursday after his lemonade stand raised more than $400 for fallen officers. Grady Valen asked his mother last week if he could start a lemonade stand to raise money for deceased police officers, FOX 5 Vegas reported. "He wanted to do it because he wanted to support police officers," Grady’s mother, Tricia, told FOX 5 Vegas. This is heart warming.

On April 16, Curtis Schantz of Alburnett was in the drive-thru of the ice cream chain when his truck broke down, The Gazette reports. Authorities say Schantz got out of the truck and opened the hood in an attempt to fix the vehicle when it rolled forward, running him over before he could get out of the way.
